We are thrilled to announce that Women’s Empowerment has received a multi-year grant for $175,000 from The California Wellness Foundation! Cal Wellness is one of our strongest partners and has been providing multi-year funding to Women’s Empowerment since 2007.
The Foundation’s mission is to improve the health of the people of California by making grants for health promotion, wellness education, and disease prevention. Since its founding in 1992, Cal Wellness has awarded 7,690 grants totaling more than $912 million. They have been true pioneers in the fields of health, social justice, and violence prevention and we are honored to be the recipient of such a generous investment.
They are investing in Women’s Empowerment’s advanced training programs, including the paid job training program, The Get A Job Kit, which annually lifts24 homeless women–and their families–out of poverty and back into self-sufficiency. Cal Wellness is providing an innovative employment pathway for capable, competent women who need a second chance.
Through this opportunity, the Foundation is fulfilling its inspiring mission to provide all Californians with access to good-paying jobs, safe neighborhoods, and quality health-care. To learn more about The California Wellness Foundation, click here.
Since first funding Women’s Empowerment in 2007, their multi-year grants have given our organization the stability, financial health, and flexibility to grow from a 3-person staff operating out of a warehouse, to a 14-person staff with a 10,000 square-foot campus.
Without their support, we would not have been able to continually provide compassionate, high-quality services to 1,270 women (and their children) these past years.
