Women’s Empowerment is proud to have partnered with the Sacramento Kings and their associates, Legends, ABM, and Fanetics for our first hiring event for the Golden One Center set to open in October, 2016.
Jessica Randall is one of the graduates who participated in the hiring event. She has found herself on the verge of homeless more than once and currently lives with her mother and beloved Chihuahua, Lola. Jessica came to Women’s Empowerment to regain her self confidence, and job readiness skills. On June 30, 2016 Jessica put her skills to the test,
“I’m ready and confident, I feel good.”
Thirty-five of our graduates attended the event in their best professional attire. They interviewed for positions ranging from custodial work, concessions, ticketing and so much more.
Jessica interviewed for a position as a security guard largely due to her prior training and certification in the field. She hopes that in the near future she will be able to take what she learned at Women’s Empowerment and apply it once she tries for a high school diploma and then a college degree. In five years Jessica would like to become a business owner and own a home where she and Lola can enjoy leisure time together in her free time.
“I just want to be happy.”
Many of the women shared they were initially nervous, but returned with smiles, a positive attitude and a confident strut. Now Women’s Empowerment graduates are more practiced at doing job interviews and are anxiously awaiting the results of this successful event.
Keeps your eyes peeled because you just might see Jessica and other graduates at an upcoming concert or basketball game at the Golden One Center.
This event would not have come together without the unwavering dedication of our Employment Specialists, in particular Maureen who organized the event. To Maureen Paley and Leslie Nye, thank you.
