Did you know Women’s Empowerment has a transitional job training program?
The Get A Job Kit is an all in one job seeking tool that gives individuals the ability and confidence to successfully search for employment and offers tools throughout the job seeking experience. The Get A Job Kit includes a career planner, cover letter, resume builder, interview tips and so much more. This social enterprise was kindly donated to women’s Empowerment by a dedicated volunteer, Shirley Wiley.
Since April, 2014 Women’s Empowerment has offered graduates the opportunity to participate in the Get A Job Kit Program, a four week program which allows women the opportunity to acquire needed job experience post graduation. Many of our graduates haven’t worked in three to five years, therefore this program gives them the opportunity to get their feet wet once again before finding a permanent position.
In early August, the Get A Job Kit Session 11 ladies graduated. Among them was Cherise Sneede.
“This program helped me brush up on my attention to detail, thoroughness, and strengthened my ability to work in a group setting. I don’t have a lot of recent work experience therefore I am extremely grateful that I can now add the skills I’ve learned to my resume.”
After each job training session is complete, six women are chosen to work for the Get A Job Kit Program, assembling kits, helping with quality control in addition to attending career classes. After the program is complete, participants receive a stipend for their work.
