A Celebration of Independence
The 14th Annual Women’s Empowerment Gala was a HUGE Success! The 14th Annual Women’s Empowerment Gala is officially in the books and we are overjoyed by its success. Thanks to you, $188,000 (a new record!) was raised to further our missionof ending homelessness for women and children–for good!!! With help from Sacramento area businesses, donors, local philanthropic organizations and volunteers, we hosted a night that was truly a celebration of independence for the graduates in attendance.
Fund a Dream
This year we heard the truly inspiring story of Chanelle’s journey!Chanelle came to Women’s Empowerment a homeless single mother, raising her two young daughters in a shelter. At the Gala, she shared with the audience that, thanks to their support, she is now a full-time student at Folsom Lake College and working in their financial aid office. She couldn’t have changed her life without Women’s Empowerment’s on-site Child Development Center. As she told us that evening:“Women’s Empowerment is safe haven for me. The Child Development Center is a safe haven for my daughters. Less than a month ago, my daughters and I moved into a beautiful new apartment! It has been four years since we’ve had a permanent place to live—and in those four years we’ve moved 16 times. It is a blessing to have a key to my own home!”
We were blown away by the generosity of the guests when $47,000 was raised for our Child Development Center! This will truly give the opportunity for even more women and their children to break the cycle of homelessness.
Volunteers – You Made It Happen!
Thank you to all the volunteers who made the evening possible! From beginning to end, volunteers played a huge role in making this event happen. From Gala gown drives and planning committees to auction procurement and clean-up, you were our superheroes! Thank you for your time, talent and incredible dedication!
