Craft Happy Holidays with Women’s Empowerment!
For many of the women we serve, the holiday season can be an especially difficult time. Our program graduates often work tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and other basic necessities for themselves and their children, and purchasing holiday gifts may not always be an option.
That’s where you come in! Here are some ways you can help:
Host a Craft for Our Holiday Craft Party
Each year we host a Holiday Craft Party, with help from our community. Graduates and their children are invited to attend, celebrate the holidays, get reconnected to services, and participate in craft projects that can be given as gifts during the holiday season. This year our Holiday Craft Party is taking place on December 17th, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm.
We need craft booth hosts! You can help – it’s easy…
- Pick a project/craft
- Email samantha@womens-empowerment.org with your craft ideas
- Provide supplies for ~200 people to partake in the craft project! (quantity is flexible)
- Oversee your booth at the craft party, helping women and children with the craft; if you need additional volunteers to help man your station, we can help with that!
We have had various craft projects in previous years, ranging from scented sachets to bookmarks, bracelets, and even dreamcatchers!
Participate in Our Holiday Drive
With your help, we can make sure that the women and children in our program each receive a special holiday gift this year with a few fun items and some winter essentials. We have a goal to collect 320 holiday gift packages by Monday, December 11th!
- Host a drive with friends and family or at your workplace –If you’re interested in hosting a drive, please email samantha@womens-empowerment.org to get started!
- Shop for and collect gift package items on our HOLIDAY WISH LIST!
- Shop our AMAZON WISH LIST or have us shop for you! (Each woman and child receives a gift package valued at around $40-$50)
- Spread the word!
- Make a donation online and let us do the shopping for you! Please add “holiday drive” in the dedication section.
- Prefer to write a check? That’s great too! Checks can be made to Women’s Empowerment and dropped off or mailed to 1590 North A Street, Sacramento, CA 95811. Please include “holiday drive” in the memo line.
Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of Women’s Empowerment and are essential to our work. By giving with time, energy, and heart, volunteers truly make an impact on the women and children we serve. There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at Women’s Empowerment, visit our Volunteer Page to find out more.
- If you’re interested in volunteering to help with our holiday efforts, please email samantha@womens-empowerment.org!
