The Trellis Gardens Housing Program is designed to further Women’s Empowerment’s efforts to end homelessness — one woman, one family, at a time. This transitional workforce housing program provides subsidized housing and support to working graduates of Women’s Empowerment’s Job-Readiness & Empowerment Program and their children who cannot yet achieve market-rate rent. This beautiful housing community and program support are the critical stepping stone for women to reclaim their lives and futures, empowering them to define themselves by who they are and what they contribute to their community rather than by their lack of housing.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This Program provides temporary, subsidized housing to graduates of Women’s Empowerment’s two-month Job-Readiness & Empowerment Program, who have secured jobs, yet still cannot afford market-rate housing for themselves and their (minor) children.

The subsidy for this program caps at 18 months, but participants are able to stay for a total of 24 months at the Trellis Gardens Housing Program.

  • We have 20 units, each unique and quaint.
  • Each unit comes fully furnished and equipped with the necessary household goods to get residents started and feel at home.
  • Each unit comes with its own parking space.
  • The community is gated and secured.
  • There is a covered outdoor community gathering area with a pool table, BBQ, fire pit, and picnic tables.

BUILDING A COMMUNITY, TOGETHER

Just as women join the sisterhood at Women’s Empowerment, our vision is that the Trellis Gardens will become a self-governing
community that thrives off togetherness and supports each other.

Community meals, meetings, groups, and classes are offered, as well as an established Community Council to further cultivate a strong and transformative foundation.

Launched in 2023, participants of this young program are an integral part of defining its legacy. Residents are making history as pioneers
for the women to come!

PROGRAM SPECIFICS

The Trellis Gardens Housing Program is designed to provide a supportive community with wrap-around services that are participant-focused. The goal is to work with residents to remove barriers to securing permanent housing. Some of these services include:

  • Ready to Rent Certification (Required)
  • Employment Advancement
  • One on One Meetings with Housing Specialist, Employment Specialist, and Case Manager
  • Groups & Enrichment Classes
    • Domestic Violence
    • Wellness & Recovery
  • Financial Capabilities Training (Required)
    • Budgeting
    • Opening and Contributing to Savings
    • Rebuilding Credit

THINK TRELLIS GARDENS MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • Must be a Graduate of Women’s Empowerment
  • Must Live in Sacramento County
  • Must be Experiencing Homelessness or At Risk of Homelessness
  • Must be Employed Full Time
  • Must have Children under 18 years of age
  • Must be Open to Active Engagement in Program Goals, Requirements, and Services as Identified by the Program
  • Must Complete Application & Attend an Interview

  • The right to feel safe at all times;
  • The right to assistance during a crisis or to prevent a crisis;
  • The right to be considered for accommodation and housing based on fair policies;
  • The right to receive help finding and staying in suitable housing on a long-term basis;
  • The right to be treated with respect regardless of race, status, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, or beliefs;
  • The right to be informed of legal and civil rights, and to speak if they have been violated;
  • The right to be informed about Program policies that have a direct impact on you;
  • The right to be informed and included in the decisions;
  • The right to confidentiality;
  • The right to receive help with applying for income assistance, employment, and health services, educational opportunities, and other support services; and,
  • The right to make a complaint or appeal a decision.

  • The responsibility to respect the rights of others to feel safe;
  • The responsibility to respect the cultural backgrounds and privacy of others;
  • The responsibility to follow schedules and rules;
  • The responsibility to let Program Staff know if you are unable to keep an appointment and need to reschedule;
  • The responsibility to inform Program Staff if you feel that any Staff member has breached the Personal Conduct Policy, or confidentiality or has treated you unfairly.

  • Complete the Housing Application/Screening
  • Interview
  • Acceptance/Denial
    • Appeal Process if Denied Save
