R.E.N.E.W Graduates

This month we celebrate the success of nine amazing WE graduates who have also graduated from the R.E.N.E.W, a property management paid training program offered in partnership with the Institute of Real Estate Management Sacramento Valley Chapter (IREM Sacramento)! These women showed hard work and dedication which has paid off as they are now certified property managers. We can’t wait to see the incredible impact they will make in the industry. Here’s to new beginnings and endless opportunities!

🎉🔔 Ding, ding, ding! The sweet sound of success is echoing for our amazing Session 96 student, Angelique, who has just landed a fantastic job! After years of navigating the tough waters of unemployment, Angelique has been offered a rewarding position as a Paralegal Secretary, complete with full benefits. She has a bright future ahead—congratulations, Angelique! 🎉

Featuring a delicious dinner, fine wine, captivating entertainment, exciting live and silent auctions, and an inspiring program, this magical evening will be one to remember.

Your presence fuels our mission, funds raised at this annual event account for nearly one-fifth of our life-changing two-month job readiness and empowerment program budget. Your support helps uplift and empower more women and children as they rebuild their lives.

Donations to the Empowerment Gala auction are tax-deductible for their fair market value and help raise funds that can create a life-changing impact for the community we serve.  WE appreciate any support, To donate, simply fill out the DONATION COMMITMENT FORM. 

Acceptable items include, but are not limited to gift cards, wine & spirits, tickets to events, private chef dinners, vacation homes, classes and experiences, gift items/goods, suites for entertainment-based events, adventure packages, family fun experiences, airline/travel tickets or miles, services, and more! Donation deadline: September 1, 2024

The Tikkun Olam (To Heal the World) Award was created in honor of Erie Shockey, a dedicated social worker who championed “Tikkun Olam” and supported hundreds of women and children experiencing homelessness. This award celebrates local heroes advancing social justice. We will honor the recipient of the 2024 To Heal the World Award at the upcoming gala.

We need your help nominating deserving community members. You can learn more and submit nominations through Friday, August 23rd using THIS FORM.

Please note: Women’s Empowerment Board, Staff, and their immediate family members are not eligible.

Each year, our Gala hosts some very special guests—our inspiring Women’s Empowerment graduates! Despite facing tremendous obstacles, these women have worked to transform their lives and their children’s lives, to rise from homelessness. Please consider helping us celebrate their achievements and honor them by covering their ticket costs.

Item donations and drives are a great way to support the women and children we serve. You can help ensure we have the important supplies that make our programs possible.

At this time, we are in need of the following:
  • Baby wipes
  • Diapers size 7
  • Non-Perishable Snacks
  • Scrubs new or gently used, all sizes
  • Large 3-Ring 2 inch binders
  • Makeup & Skincare for all skin tones
  • Small or travel size toiletries
  • New and gently worn bra’s sizes DD & Up

Welcome Yevette Wooten, WE’s newest Childcare Assistant.  Yevette has dedicated her life to making an impact for unhoused families through social service. Born and raised in Vallejo, California, Yevette studied Early Childhood Education at Solano Community College. Since 2004, Yevette has been on a mission to uplift and support underserved communities, starting her career by providing essential assistance to homeless women and children at Loaves and
Fishes. She also worked as an on-site residential property manager for Volunteers of America, ensuring stable housing for homeless families,  later as shelter support staff at First Steps Communities. We are thrilled to have her as part of the WE team!
