Life After Graduation is an opportunity for graduates of Women’s Empowerment’s nine- week session to continue to connect, learn, and support each other, far after they graduate from the program. Life After Graduation programming is designed in direct response to the needs of graduates. Programing includes topics such as How to Change Career Paths, Investment Strategies, and other life skills.

During these sessions graduates learn about spending, saving, investing, borrowing, and protecting their funds. They hear from experts and create practical, working budgets.

Women’s Empowerment paid job training programs are designed for Women’s Empowerment graduates to gain work experience or specific job skills that will help them secure permanent employment. To find out more about these programs visit our Paid Job Trainings Page.

The clothing closet is open for Graduate Shopping Mondays & Thursdays 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. No appointment is needed.

Graduates can access the computer lab any time during business hours as long as there is not a class present. Graduates use computers to update employment documents, check email, job search, and more. Printing is available if needed.

Transitions can be challenging. Women’s Empowerment graduates can make appointments with a social worker to discuss challenges, process emotions, or for any other reason they might need to talk. Appointments can be made by calling 916-669-2307.

The WELL was envisioned by Women’s Empowerment’s founding social worker, Erie Shockey before she passed away. Volunteers maintain and run this wonderful library so students and graduates can check out books, movies, and more.

Women’s Empowerment Employment Specialists are available by appointment to assist graduates with employment related tasks, whether a graduate needs to update their resume, job-search, or practice for a big interview, WE Employment Specialists are here to help.

Women’s Empowerment Housing Specialist is available by appointment to advocate for and assist graduates with housing related tasks, whether a graduate needs assistance finding housing solutions, navigating the competitive process, or communicating with a landlord, the WE Housing Specialist is here to help.

Enrichment classes and groups are open to both students and graduates and are designed to support, empower, and uplift. Classes and groups include: Domestic Violence Support Group, Wellness and Recovery, Parenting, Fitness, Yoga, and Cooking & Nutrition. Please call 916-669-2307 for class dates/times.

Ready To Rent is a housing readiness program for renters that have difficulties finding housing due to some of their barriers. This course is intended to improve the renter’s knowledge in the rental process, as well as provide the necessary tools to help the renters eventually find housing in Sacramento’s competitive rental market. In partnership with NCJW Sacramento, we created BTS in 2016 to award mini-grants to graduates and help them move toward self-sufficiency. Take a look at their brochure here. Grants are provided to graduates who are facing financial challenges and need help with a one-time expense that prevents the applicant from securing safe housing, job training, education, or employment.
