The Holidays are Here!

Holiday Drive

The holidays can be a challenging time for our graduates. The women we serve work tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and other basic necessities for themselves and their children. Purchasing holiday gifts may not always be an option.

By donating a gift package, making a monetary donation, or donating individual items, your act of kindness can demonstrate to women and children that they have a community of love and support.

There are a couple ways you can help:

  • Consider hosting a drive among friends and family or at your workplace.
  • Shop for and collect gift package items. View our HOLIDAY WISH LIST!
  • Shop our AMAZON WISH LIST!
  • Spread the word!

Don’t feel like shopping? You can make a financial donation and we will do the shopping for you! Each gift package is valued at about $35-$45.

  • Make a donation online, please add “holiday drive” in the dedication section.
  • Prefer to write a check? That’s great too! Checks can be made out to Women’s Empowerment and dropped off or mailed to 1590 North A Street, Sacramento, CA 95811. Please include “holiday drive” in the memo line!

Holiday Craft Party

Each year we host a Holiday Craft Party for our graduates and their children. Not only does this fun event allow us to reconnect our graduates to services, but women and children also have the opportunity to partake in craft projects that can be given as gifts during the holiday season.

Because of COVID-19, we will once again be doing the holiday in a box. This festive box of fun will feature craft kits, supplies, and more, so that the women and children we serve are still able craft gifts and celebrate despite not being able to attend in person. We will be distributing these special boxes on December 11th!

We are in need of volunteers/groups to create craft kits.

What does that entail?

  1. Pick a project/craft.
  2. Email gloria@womens-empowerment.org with your craft idea.
  3. Procure supplies for ~100-200 people to partake in your craft project. (Please note that this number is flexible)
  4. Create a step by step instruction guide for your craft project.
  5. Assemble craft kits, each kit containing an instruction guide and supplies needed for one person to partake in your craft project.

We will be including in each box a pack of general supplies needed in craft projects like scissors, glue, and tape, so you don’t need to include those in each kit.

If you have any questions or would like to take on a craft, please email gloria@womens-empowerment.org.
