The Bells are Ringing!

One of the most special moments at Women’s Empowerment is when a student or a graduate rings the bell. Our bell ringers share major milestones they’ve achieved, such as obtaining housing, a job offer, or a promotion. While the ringing of a bell seems so simple, for women and children experiencing homelessness, these moments are life-changing. We are in awe of the courageous steps these women take each day!

A Word on Black History Month

As we strive to improve our surrounding communities and lift up one another, WE is committed to amplifying voices and honoring the sacrifices of those who paved the way for women everywhere. Though Black History Month is coming to a close, year-round we remember and celebrate change makers, and hope to encourage facilitating history in the making!

Meet Bennetha!

Bennetha is a current student of Session 90 and a shining example of perseverance, accountability, and empowerment. Before Women’s Empowerment, Bennetha struggled with homelessness and mental health. She felt directionless in her jobs, leading to a cycle of being hired, working, quitting, and repeating. But when she heard about WE, Bennetha decided it was time for a change.

“I knew I needed a job refresher to be up-to-date and successful. But I didn’t expect to be taught so much about myself.” The holistic approach and learning about her strengths as an individual are what inspired Bennetha to turn her transferrable skills into teachable skills. Throughout Session 90, Bennetha has taken on a leadership role, texting her peers every morning to make sure everyone feels positive, holds themselves accountable, and is ready to learn.

“This place makes me feel like I have a purpose — like I finally have a solid foundation. I know I’m not gonna slip. And because of that, I can take these lifelong skills and share them with my family and everyone else I meet. I can make the same impact.”
